而连轧机的电气传动则应在保证物质流量恒定的前提下承受咬合刚和轧制是的冲击性负载，实现机架的各部分控制和协调控制。每个机架的上下轧辊共用一台电动机实现集中拖动，不同机架采用不同电动机实现部分传动，各机架轧辊之间的速度则按物质流量恒定原理用速度链实现协调控制。
物质流量不变的要求应在稳态和过渡过程中得到满足，因此，需对过渡过程时间和超调量提出相应的限制。
